Cost
What a Vermont wedding package includes
Compare wedding packages by their included meal, bar, rentals, coordination, lodging nights, taxes and gratuities. Grafton Inn’s full-property starting package is $34,995 for 100 and includes taxes and gratuities. Sleepy Hollow’s peak weekend lists $10,830 plus 9% and two inn nights; catering is a separate scope to establish.
Divide only after matching the package scope
Grafton’s starting total divided by 100 is $349.95, while Sleepy Hollow’s $10,830 divided by 165 is about $65.64 before its stated tax. Those calculations do not show which wedding is cheaper: the packages include different services. Compare actual meal and bar quotes before using a per-guest division.
- Furniture: inventory, setup and removal.
- Food and bar: guaranteed count, menu, hours, staffing and minimum.
- Coordination: preparation tasks and actual attendance period.
- Lodging: rooms or beds, nights, payer and release conditions.
- Charges: service fee, gratuity, tax and optional additions.

“Wedding package” means a different bundle at each Vermont venue. The word itself tells you nothing about what is inside it. The venues covered here show four models.
Per person: Basin Harbor's $135–$280 is built around a multi-course in-house dinner, while Jay Peak's menus from $55 price food alone beside a separate venue fee. All-inclusive by guest count: the Grafton Inn's full-property weekend starts at $34,995 for 100 guests, taxes and gratuities included, with $255 for each guest past 50 or 70 on its smaller packages.
By the weekend, with rooms attached: Sleepy Hollow charges $5,165 to $10,830 plus tax, and Sterling Ridge Resort $1,900 to $11,500 plus tax. The fourth model bundles a service instead of a price, at Boyden Farm, Smugglers' Notch and Killington. Ask what any number includes before you compare it.
Three per-guest packages, built differently
The venues that publish a per-person or per-guest rate. The same shape of number, different things inside it.
- Basin Harbor
- $135–$280; A curated multi-course dinner, Vermont-sourced; Venue fee $3,000–$15,000; ceremony fee from $1,250; F&B minimum $10,000–$70,000.
- Jay Peak Resort
- From $55; Food menus only; A separate site fee per space, $1,700–$7,000.
- The Grafton Inn
- $255 per added guest (intimate packages); $225 (micro-wedding); A whole package: dinner, beer and wine, all rentals, a wedding manager; Taxes and gratuities are included; a liquor upgrade is $30 a person.
Basin Harbor's figure is closer to an all-in dining experience; Jay Peak's is a menu price sitting beside its own separate venue fee. Reading either number as directly comparable to the other, or to a venue that has not published one at all, is the mistake this page exists to head off: ask what the per-person figure includes before you compare it to anything.
Venues that bundle a service instead of publishing a price
Venues that state a planner or caterer is included in the venue fee, without publishing what that fee is.
- The Barn at Boyden Farm
- Day-of coordination included, unless you choose your own planner; No.
- The Barn at Smugglers' Notch
- A certified wedding planner, included with the venue fee; No.
- The Barn at Top of The World
- A day-of coordinator when possible, with tables, chairs and place settings; No.
Worked all-in examples
Three venues publish what a full wedding totals. Basin Harbor states $70,000–$110,000 for a 150–200 guest celebration, built from its published venue fee, per-person package and F&B minimum stacked together. The Grafton Inn states a full-property weekend from $34,995 for 100 guests, with taxes and gratuities included.
Riverside Farm says couples usually spend about $44,000. Each is one venue's own number, not an industry average, and none is comparable to the others until you know what it includes. See the cost structure page for how the four billing parts fit together, and venue and site fees for the fee side of what these packages sit beside.
Does the per person rate include the bar?
Not stated for either venue. Ask specifically, since alcohol is frequently billed and taxed separately from the food package.
Which venues bundle a planner into the venue fee?
The Barn at Boyden Farm includes day-of coordination unless you choose your own planner, and the Barn at Smugglers' Notch includes a certified wedding planner with its venue fee. Neither publishes what that fee is.
Is a bundled planner the same as a wedding planner I would hire myself?
Not necessarily. A venue's included coordinator commonly runs the venue's own obligations on the day; a planner you hire separately runs yours from the start. Ask what the included role covers.
Is there a worked example of a full package cost?
Three: Basin Harbor publishes $70,000–$110,000 for a 150–200 guest celebration, the Grafton Inn a full-property weekend from $34,995 for 100 guests with taxes and gratuities included, and Riverside Farm says couples usually spend about $44,000.
Why do so few venues publish a package price?
The same reason most do not publish a venue fee. A published number invites direct comparison, and most venues would rather have the conversation. See which venues publish their prices.
Is tax included in a published per-person rate?
Only the Grafton Inn says so: its package prices include taxes and gratuities. The others do not state it. Vermont adds 9% on food and 10% on alcohol, plus 1% more in a local option town, on top of whatever the quoted figure turns out to be.
What is the single best question to ask about a package?
Not "what is the package," but "what is included in that price, and what is billed separately." That question is what separates Basin Harbor's all-in dinner from Jay Peak's food-only menu.
- Sales tax on wedding purchases
- Which Vermont tax lands on which wedding purchase: 6% sales tax on goods, 9% on meals and rooms, and 10% on served alcohol; confirm any applicable local option separately.
- Cheaper dates
- How much a weekday or off-season date changes a Vermont venue's price, using only the figures the properties publish for those dates and packages.
- What vendors bill on
- How each type of Vermont wedding vendor charges (by the hour, the head, the piece or a flat booking fee), and which services the venue supplies separately.
