What to ask any barn and farm venue in Vermont

These are the requirements that come with the building instead of with the business, so they apply even where the venue's own website is silent. Ask before you visit. Then ask again in writing.

Is the barn heated, and to what date?

A barn that is glorious in September can be unusable in late October. Ask for the last date they will run a wedding in it, not the last date on the calendar.

Where does the caterer cook?

Many barns have a prep space, not a kitchen. That changes the menu a caterer can quote and it changes the price.

What is the amplified-music cut-off, and what moves it?

Barn venues sit in residential and agricultural neighborhoods. The cut-off is commonly earlier than couples expect and is sometimes negotiable in a specific, stated way.

How many restrooms, and are they permanent?

Trailered restrooms are normal and fine
The number is what matters at 150 guests.

What is the surface between the parking and the ceremony?

Grass, gravel and a slope are the three things that decide whether a guest using a wheelchair or a cane can get to the seat.
