Vermont wedding music and DJs: the end time decides it

Compare a wedding DJ quote by ceremony sound, reception hours, microphones, lighting, setup and the person performing. DJ Rome 802’s FAQ includes setup and breakdown in pricing and offers ceremony wireless microphones and battery-powered sound. Its stated $200 nonrefundable booking deposit is a supplier-specific term, not a statewide wedding deposit rule.

Match the DJ booking to the room’s music finish

Mansfield Barn lists a six-hour DJ service separately from the site fee and requires music off by 10:30 pm. An assumed 4:30–10:30 pm period is six hours; starting at 5:30 would leave only five before that cutoff. Confirm whether ceremony sound and any change of location consume part of the service period.

Write down must-play and do-not-play preferences, announcement names, first-dance cues and who accepts guest requests. DJ Rome’s FAQ says guest requests are filtered through the couple’s preferences. Ask how late schedule changes, overtime and a replacement performer are handled before paying the deposit.

In Vermont the binding requirement on entertainment is almost never the performer and almost always the venue's amplified-music cut-off.

The Inn at the Round Barn Farm is one of four venues that publish one, stating that amplified music ends by 9:30 pm, moving to 11:00 pm if all of the Inn's rooms are reserved, which is a beautifully specific example of how these limits work, and a warning that most venues have one they do not publish.

Establish the cut-off before you book a band, since it determines the number of sets you are paying for. Outdoor ceremonies add a second question, which is power: a lawn or field site may have no supply within a useful distance, and a generator is a line item and a noise source.

When Vermont venues say the music stops

22 of the 45 verified venues state an amplified-music or event end time, either on their own site or in a named listing. Ask for it before you book a band, because it decides how many sets you are paying for.

Amplified-music end times Vermont venues publish

The Barn at Boyden Farm
Music ends 10:30 pm; guests depart by 11:00 pm.

What time must amplified music stop, and what changes it?

Ask the venue, not the band. Get the condition that moves it, if there is one.

Is there power at the ceremony site, or is a generator needed?

Lawn and field ceremonies frequently need one. It is a cost and a noise source.

Does the quote include ceremony sound and a microphone for readings?

Often a separate system and a separate charge.

What is the travel charge to this venue?

Same non-comparability problem as photography.

How many hours of amplified music four Vermont venues allow

Four of the 45 Vermont venues publish a time when the music must stop, and the answers are not the same. The Inn at the Round Barn Farm ends amplified music at 9:30 pm, or 11:00 pm if all its Inn rooms are reserved. The Community Sailing Center ends amplified noise at 10:00 pm under Burlington's ordinance.

The Barn at Boyden Farm ends music at 10:30 pm and asks guests to leave by 11:00 pm. The Mansfield Barn also ends music at 10:30 pm, with the barn open until 11:00 pm.

Take a reception that starts at 5:30 pm, an assumption chosen only for the arithmetic. It leaves 4 hours of music at the Round Barn's usual limit, 5.5 hours if the rooms are all taken, and 5 hours at Boyden Farm, and 4.5 hours at the Sailing Center. Lake Morey Resort states end times for rooms and outdoor events, not for music.

The other 40 venues publish nothing, so a band's four sets may be sold into hours you cannot use. Ask first.

The amplified-music end times venues publish, worked against a 5:30 pm start.

Every amplified-music end time any verified venue states, with the hours it leaves after an example 5:30 pm reception start (an assumption chosen for the arithmetic, not a venue figure).

The Inn at the Round Barn Farm
Amplified music ends by 9:30 pm; 4 hours.
The Inn at the Round Barn Farm
11:00 pm if all Inn rooms are reserved; 5.5 hours.
Community Sailing Center
Amplified noise ends 10:00 pm; last call 10:30 pm; guests out by 11:00 pm; 4.5 hours.
The Barn at Boyden Farm
Music ends no later than 10:30 pm; guests depart by 11:00 pm; 5 hours of music.
The Mansfield Barn
Music must stop by 10:30 pm; barn use until 11:00 pm; 5 hours of music.

What a band's four sets mean against a 9:30 pm limit.

A band quoted for four sets of forty-five minutes with breaks needs about four hours. That fits inside 9:30 from a 5:30 start only if dinner and speeches happen before the first set, which they do not.

Work back from the end time to the number of sets you can use, and pay for that number. See live bands and music and DJ.
