Cost

Vermont venue and site fees

Compare venue fees by the space, rental period and included services. Basin Harbor lists a $3,000–$15,000 reception fee plus a separate ceremony fee starting at $1,250 Monday–Thursday or $2,500 on peak weekends. Mansfield Barn lists standard site fees of $4,500–$6,500 by weekday, with a separate early-payment discount.

A package total and a room fee answer different questions

Grafton Inn’s full-property package starts at $34,995 for 100 with taxes and gratuities included. Riverside Farm describes typical spending of about $44,000, and Basin Harbor describes $70,000–$110,000 for 150–200 guests.

These figures cover different services and attendance. They are not a ranking or comparable rental charges.

Three fee calculations with different scopes
VenuePublished componentsArithmetic before further items
Stowe Great Room$6,500 package + $15,000 food/bar minimum$21,500
Okemo$3,500 package + $7,500 minimum$11,000
Old Gray Barn peak Saturday$8,500 venue + $800 ceremony$9,300 before food and bar

The minimum is a threshold for qualifying spending, not a second meal bill. Itemize rental period, setup, furniture, catering, bar, minimum shortfall, service charges and tax. Use the venue records for room-specific policies and package comparison for inclusions.

Finding · price
What high-end costs at Vermont wedding venues that print a price.

Four of the 45 verified venues print a wedding figure above $20,000, in the dated research inventory; their scopes differ, so these figures are not a ranking of venues. Basin Harbor states $70,000 to $110,000 all in for 150 to 200 guests. Riverside Farm says couples usually spend about $44,000.

The Grafton Inn's full-property weekend starts at $34,995 for 100 guests, with taxes and gratuities included. Stowe Mountain Resort's package and minimum together start at $21,500. Below those sit the barns and resorts at roughly $9,000 to $11,500.

Five venues take inquiries only, so the top of the market is mostly priced by quote. The figures measure different things, so ask what each includes before you compare them.

The largest wedding figures Vermont venues print

The biggest single figure each verified venue prints about its own wedding costs, largest first, with what the number covers. Not comparable without the inclusions.

Basin Harbor
$70,000–$110,000 all in, for 150 to 200 guests; The venue's own worked example: venue fee, per-person package and minimum stacked.
Riverside Farm
About $44,000 typical; prices start at $10,000; A typical spend the venue states, not a fee.
The Grafton Inn
From $34,995 for 100 guests; Full-property weekend; taxes and gratuities included; a room block of up to 47.
Stowe Mountain Resort
$6,500 package plus a $15,000 minimum, at least $21,500; Package and minimum added; tax is on top.
Sterling Ridge Resort
Up to $11,500 plus tax; Full-resort wedding weekend for up to 150; lodging for about 110.
Okemo Mountain Resort
$3,500 package plus a $7,500 minimum, at least $11,000; Two stated starting figures added; tax is on top.
Sleepy Hollow
$10,830 plus 9% tax; Peak weekend for up to 165 with the eight-room inn.
The Barn at Boyden Farm
$9,750 for a foliage weekend; Full weekend package, 4 September to 16 October.
The Old Gray Barn
$8,500 venue fee plus $800 ceremony fee, $9,300; A foliage Saturday; catering and bar extra.

Why the biggest figures are not comparable

Basin Harbor's is a worked example for a large guest count. Riverside Farm's is a typical spend, not a fee.

The Grafton Inn's is a package with dinner, rentals and a wedding manager, taxes included. Stowe's and Okemo's are two starting figures added together, so they are floors.

Vermont adds 9% on food and 10% on alcohol, plus 1% more in a local option town, to most of them. See minimums and taxes.

Vermont venues that take inquiries only and quote privately

Hildene, Edson Hill, Twin Farms, Harpoon Brewery: Windsor Taproom, Old Round Church state that they take inquiries only. Nothing they publish shows what a wedding costs, so any comparison with the fee comparisons on this page has to come from a conversation.

For these, ask for the venue fee, the food and beverage minimum, the per-person price and the tax as four separate lines. See the cost structure page.

The Inn at the Round Barn Farm
Facility fee; 50% plus a non-refundable $2,000 deposit.
The Barn at Boyden Farm
$7,095–$9,750 for a full wedding weekend, by season.
Sterling Ridge Resort
Packages from $1,900 (elopement) to $11,500 (full-resort weekend), plus tax.

What is the minimum spend at Stowe Mountain Resort?

A food and beverage minimum starting at $15,000, beside a venue package starting at $6,500, according to the venue.

What does the Grafton Inn's full-property wedding include?; Exclusive use of the inn, a six-hour event, dinner, every rental, a wedding manager and a room block of up to 47, with taxes and gratuities included.

Do these prices include tax?

Only the Grafton Inn says taxes and gratuities are included. Sterling Ridge and Sleepy Hollow add tax.

Which venues quote privately?

Hildene, Edson Hill, Twin Farms, Harpoon Brewery: Windsor Taproom, Old Round Church take inquiries only.

What is the difference between a venue fee and a minimum?

The fee is for the space. The minimum is the least you must spend on food and drink. See venue fees.

Is a high price a sign of a better venue?

It reports the figures venues print and does not rank them.

How do I compare two high-end venues?

Ask both for the same four lines: fee, minimum, per-person price and tax. See what vendors bill on.

Every venue against the nine comparable fields

Field by field

How many of the 45 verified venues publish each of the nine fields on their own website.

The pattern

A published capacity or room photograph does not settle the catering agreement, rain plan or music end time. Keep each of the nine fields beside a shortlisted venue so an unanswered question remains visible. A website may provide only some of these details, while a dated proposal describes the event actually offered.

The inventory counts identify questions to ask; they do not explain a venue’s reasons for publishing or omitting a field. Ask about the room layout, guest count and wedding date in the same message, so the reply applies to the event you are planning decision: count passengers, pickup points, accessibility needs and the final departure.

Request the missing requirements before comparing contracts. Put each venue’s reply beside its published information, noting the proposal date, so appealing photographs do not stand in for a confirmed rain room, catering permission or end time.

The venues that publish most, and least

Does publishing less mean a worse venue?

No. The count concerns published information and the questions still to ask. It does not establish the quality of the venue or the experience it would provide.

Is this many venues enough to draw a conclusion from?

It is enough to show a clear pattern and not enough to put a precise percentage on the state. The number is reported as a count out of 45 instead of as a statistic about Vermont.

Are venues penalised here for publishing less?

No. There is no ranking, no score that affects position, and nothing is for sale. The count is descriptive.

Can a venue improve its number?

By publishing more on its own website. That is the only mechanism, and it is available to every venue for free.

Turn package figures into comparable totals

A $5,000 venue package plus a $10,000 food-and-beverage minimum starts at $15,000 before tax and other applicable charges if both are payable. It does not mean a $10,000 total with the venue package already included. Ask which menu and bar purchases count toward the minimum, and keep any bedroom booking in a separate total. This arithmetic is a worked example, not a quote for a named venue.

Record the package charge, the minimum, the taxes and any stated service charge on separate lines. Then calculate the guest-count scenario the couple actually expects. A proposal for 150 meals and a proposal for 100 meals are not comparable totals even when both use the same venue package. Identify whether ceremony setup, dinner furniture and bar staffing belong to the package or to another charge.

Use the final proposal date and the wedding date when comparing prices. A price for one season or year may describe a different package from an earlier example. Keep the included room, service hours and guest count beside each total so a cheaper number does not silently represent a smaller event.

Low-cost and budget venues
The lowest venue fees any Vermont wedding venue here publishes, from Jay Peak's per-space prices to complete packages with different inclusions.
Sales tax on wedding purchases
Which Vermont tax lands on which wedding purchase: 6% sales tax on goods, 9% on meals and rooms, and 10% on served alcohol; confirm any applicable local option separately.

A Vermont venue fee is the charge for the space and, commonly, for a stated list of furniture and staff time. It is the number venues are most willing to publish. It is also the one that correlates least with what you finally pay, because at most full-service properties it sits beside a separate per-person catering package and a separate minimum spend.

Three venues publish real figures. Jay Peak prices each of its seven spaces individually, from $1,700 to $7,000. Basin Harbor states a reception venue range of $3,000 to $15,000 plus a ceremony fee starting at $1,250 midweek.

The Round Barn charges a facility fee taken as fifty per cent up front plus a non-refundable $2,000. Those are three different billing models, and comparing only their headline numbers would mislead you.

Five billing models, with real numbers

Every venue fee published by a venue. Five different billing models, so the headline numbers are not comparable.

Jay Peak Resort
Per space, published; $1,700 to $7,000 depending on the space, plus menus from $55 per person.
Basin Harbor
Ranges plus a separate ceremony fee; Reception venue $3,000–$15,000; ceremony from $1,250 midweek, $2,500 peak weekend.
The Inn at the Round Barn Farm
Facility fee with a deposit structure; 50% of the facility fee plus a non-refundable $2,000; Inn deposit $2,500 additional.
The Barn at Boyden Farm
Seasonal weekend package, published to the month; $7,095 to $9,750 for a full three-day weekend, depending on the month.
Stowe Mountain Resort
Package starting price, itemised inclusions; Starting at $6,500, including ceremony chairs, dining and cocktail tables, linens, china and dance floor.

What a fee includes changes what it means

The Round Barn states that its facility fee covers the barn spaces, coordination, twenty dining tables, six cocktail tables, ceremony chairs, two hundred Chiavari chairs and dishware. At a venue where those are rentals, an apparently lower fee is not lower. This is why the useful question is never “what is the fee” but “what is the fee, and what would I otherwise be renting”.

The venues that publish nothing

26 of the 39 venues booking weddings publish no fee at all. That is normal in this industry and it is not evasive, but it does mean a shortlist cannot be costed from websites. Send the four-part request on the cost structure page to each of them and you will get answers you can lay side by side.

How much deposit should I expect?

Only one venue here publishes a structure: the Round Barn states fifty per cent of the facility fee plus a non-refundable $2,000, with a further $2,500 for the Inn. Treat that as one example instead of a norm.

Is the venue fee refundable?

Not answered here, because no venue publishes its cancellation terms. It is one of the most important things in the contract and it must be asked for directly.

Does tax apply to the venue fee?

Vermont's meals, rooms and alcohol taxes apply to those categories of sale. How your particular site fee is treated is a question for the venue's invoice: ask for a quote showing tax on its own line.

Why do most venues not publish a fee at all?

A published fee invites comparison on one number, and most venues would rather have the conversation. It is normal, not evasive, but it does mean a shortlist cannot be costed from websites.

What is the single most useful pricing question?

Not "what is the fee" but "what is the fee, and what would I otherwise be renting". The second version produces a comparable answer.

What is a typical wedding venue cost in Vermont?

There is no single typical figure, because the venues that publish one price completely differently: Jay Peak's per-space fees run $1,700 to $7,000, while Basin Harbor states a food-and-beverage minimum of $10,000 to $70,000 depending on season: a different kind of number entirely. Treat any single "average" you see elsewhere as a guess.

What does an average barn wedding venue cost?

Among the barn venues, only the Round Barn publishes a fee structure: fifty per cent of its facility fee as deposit plus a non-refundable $2,000. It does not publish the facility fee itself as a flat headline number, as at many barn venues: ask directly instead of assuming a published range applies.
