Tool
Which Vermont venues state a capacity that fits your guest list
Enter a guest count to shortlist the listed venues whose published maximum can accommodate that number. The maximum may describe standing occupancy, a ceremony or a different room from the dinner space needed. Read the returned venue record before choosing the layout, and confirm availability and any minimum directly with the venue.
The maximum is an inquiry filter
Harpoon’s 200-person lawn can appear in a hypothetical 140-guest shortlist; the same property’s indoor seated limit remains 100. That result does not approve a 140-person indoor dinner. Room-specific limits stay in the venue record; the tool has no availability calendar.

The tool filters the venues by the capacity each venue states on its own website. The matcher is conservative in two ways. The match uses only a number the venue itself published, so a venue that would happily host you but states no capacity will not appear as a match.
A venue with no published capacity appears in a separate list of venues you will have to ask, which is useful information instead of an omission. And it matches against the largest capacity a venue states, which at multi-space properties may belong to a room that is not the room you want.
Treat a match as a reason to make contact instead of as a confirmation, and read the venue's own page here for which space that number belongs to.

- Sleepy Hollow
- Huntington; Round Barn seats up to 165; 140 recommended in winter.
- Riverside Farm
- Pittsfield; 75 to 300 (ceremony page); up to 500 (homepage).
- Community Sailing Center

- Lake Morey Resort
- Fairlee; Terrace Ballroom 250; Morey Room 180; Waterlot Room 100; Edgewater Room 60.

- Stowe; Stowe Ballroom up to 150 with a dance floor.
4 venues booking weddings publish no capacity at all, The Barn at Smugglers' Notch , Spirit of Ethan Allen , Bolton Valley Resort , Mountain Meadows Lodge , so they can be neither matched nor ruled out from their own websites. Those venues are listed instead of dropped, because knowing who you have to ask is the useful part.
How the capacity matcher works, and its limits
The matcher compares your guest count against the largest capacity figure each venue states on its own website, parsed from the venue's own wording. Venues that publish no capacity are not matched and not hidden. Those venues are listed separately, because "you will have to ask these four" is a useful output.
Why it is conservative
A stated maximum at a multi-space property may belong to a room that is not the room you want; Jay Peak's 250 is the Foeger Ballroom, not the Clubhouse Barn. Where a venue states a minimum as well, the tool flags it, since a venue with a 100-guest Saturday minimum is not a match for 60 guests even though its maximum fits.
Which Vermont venues state a capacity that fits your guests: limits
A match is a reason to make contact, not a confirmation of availability. No calendars are tracked here.
How many wedding venues should we tour before deciding?
No number is published here, because the right count depends on how fast the first few rule themselves out on cost, capacity or catering rules. Settle those three facts by email first and you will need fewer tours, not more.
Is there a spreadsheet to compare wedding venue costs?
Not a downloadable one: the comparable-fields table on what venues publish does the same job, built from the same nine fields for every venue.
Do wedding venues need their own liquor license?
Most often not the venue itself. See alcohol rules : Vermont's ordinary route is a licensed caterer holding a per-event catering permit, not a license held by the venue.
Are there Vermont wedding venues that don't require in-house catering?; The opposite is the more common restriction here. Several venues state that catering must be in-house or that outside caterers are not permitted, not the reverse.
How do I search wedding venues with large capacity?
Set a high guest count on this tool. Venues here stating a large published capacity include Basin Harbor at 300+ and Foeger Ballroom at up to 250 with a dance floor.
Is there a wedding venue size for 200 guests?
Yes: the Round Barn states up to 200, and several other venues publish ranges that include 200 within them. Use the guest-count field above instead of assuming from a name.
How much does a wedding venue commonly cost compared to another?
The comparison is rarely apples to apples: Jay Peak prices per space ($1,700 to $7,000), Basin Harbor publishes a food-and-beverage minimum ($10,000 to $70,000), and most venues publish neither. See what venues publish for the full field-by-field comparison.
What are the requirements for a wedding barn for 150 people?
The main requirement to check is capacity headroom, not a fixed rule: the Round Barn states up to 200, which covers 150 with room to spare, while a barn stating a lower figure may not. Confirm the number is for your exact layout, not the venue's maximum.
Is there a wedding venue comparison spreadsheet for cost?
Not a downloadable spreadsheet: what venues publish is a comparison table built from the same nine fields for every venue, which does the same job without you having to build one.
Is there a wedding venue price comparison spreadsheet?
Not a downloadable one. What venues publish lays out every price figure any venue states about itself, side by side, which is the comparison a spreadsheet would otherwise be built to do.
What are the best wedding venues in VT?
No venue is ranked here. What it does is verify the same nine facts for every venue, on the venues page , so "best" is a question you can answer for your own guest list and budget instead of one this site answers for you.
On average, how many guests attend a Vermont wedding?
Not a figure this site publishes: an "average" guest count is a survey statistic, not something any venue states about itself. What is recorded is the venue's own capacity, which ranges from Trapp Family Lodge's 20-guest Alcove to Basin Harbor's stated "300+".
How many invited guests attend a wedding?
No attendance rate is tracked here, because no venue publishes one. The figure is a fact about your own guest list, not about a venue. Set your realistic headcount before matching it against a stated capacity above.
How many guests should we expect at our wedding?
Not a number this site estimates. Use your own RSVP count against a venue's stated capacity: matching the wrong direction, assuming everyone invited attends, is how a food-and-beverage minimum gets underestimated.
How many wedding guests show up on the day?
There is no standard no-show rate. Ask your venue whether its minimum spend, if it has one, is based on invited or attending guests: see minimums and taxes.
How many people commonly attend a wedding?
Not a figure this site invents. The useful number here is the range of capacities these venues publishes, from 20 at the smallest verified space to "300+" at the largest.
How many people fit per table at a wedding?
Not something any venue states: table size is ordinarily set by your caterer's own round or rectangular stock, not by the venue's site fee. Ask the caterer, not the venue, for that number.
How big should a wedding venue be for our guest list?
Large enough to hold your headcount with room to spare, not exactly to it: the Round Barn's stated 100-guest Saturday minimum is the kind of floor that bites if a venue's maximum and your guest list are the same number.
How much land do you need for a wedding venue?
Not a figure this site publishes, since it depends entirely on the ceremony and reception layout instead of a fixed rule. The answer sits with the venue itself: several barn and lawn venues state a building or tent capacity without ever stating the acreage around it.
