Wedding venues in Burlington and the Champlain Valley
Burlington and the Champlain Valley offer hotel ballrooms, lakefront event spaces, barns and a wedding charter. Hotel Champlain distinguishes 350 seated from 600 standing; Community Sailing Center’s Terrace seats 120. Shelburne Farms is not currently booking weddings at the Inn or Coach Barn, while Shelburne Vineyard offers a seasonal tent and smaller indoor spaces.
Shelburne and Burlington require different bookings
For a hypothetical 140-person dinner, the Sailing Center Terrace’s 120 seats leave 20 to resolve, while the Vineyard’s 152-person tent figure may support an inquiry. Its 85-person indoor Tasting Room is a different weather arrangement.
- Hotel Champlain’s room-block minimum is ten rooms per night
- it explicitly provides no airport shuttle. Inspect the actual routes between lodging and event buildings.
| Venue | Town | Event details |
|---|---|---|
| Basin Harbor | Vergennes | Vergennes: consider Basin Harbor's 300-plus guest listing alongside the $3,000–$15,000 venue charge and its requirement to use the property’s catering. |
| The Essex Resort & Spa | Essex | Essex: select a room within the resort’s 6–350 guest range. Food service stays with the property; its catering restriction excludes an independently hired kitchen. |
| Shelburne Farms | Shelburne | Shelburne: the farm’s current notice suspends wedding bookings at both the Inn and Coach Barn. Its public visits and education programs do not establish availability for a private celebration. |
| Shelburne Vineyard | Shelburne | Shelburne: the 152-person lawn is a seasonal tent booking, May–late September. Indoor choices are Tasting Room (85 for its stated arrangement) and Loft (24 dining or 40 standing). Approved catering, vineyard beer-and-wine service and a listed 22:00 music limit apply. |
| Old Round Church | Richmond | Richmond: compare the comfortable 150-person arrangement with the listing’s larger 200 maximum. The ceremony-only charge is $500 for three hours, with no catering or alcohol and a 10 pm music stop. |
| Sleepy Hollow | Huntington | Huntington: dinner seating reaches 165, or a recommended 140 during winter. Micro midweek, quieter-season weekend and peak weekend fees are respectively $5,165, $6,930 and $10,830, before the listed 9% tax. |
| Hotel Champlain | Burlington | Burlington: the ballroom lists 350 dinner seats and standing space for 600. Hotel food service is required, so a standing-event maximum cannot be used as the dinner seating count. |
| Community Sailing Center | Burlington | Burlington: Terrace allows 120 seated or 150 standing, versus Pier’s 80 seated or 120 standing. With approved outside catering, agree the Pier’s sunset-minus-thirty-minutes finish or Terrace’s 23:00 end and 22:30 bar last call. |
| The Mansfield Barn | Jericho | Jericho: the 200-guest barn lists $4,500–$6,500 standard fees and a conditional $500 payment discount. Choose between its two approved food-and-alcohol providers; the final half hour after 10:30 pm is for winding down before 11 pm. |
| Spirit of Ethan Allen | Burlington | Burlington: the ship’s meal and alcohol services are exclusive. A listing quotes peak-season reception starting at $5,000, plus ceremony from $200; compare the charter’s boarding and return arrangements with a land-based rental. |
| Bolton Valley Resort | Bolton | Bolton Valley: the listed rental is $3,000 for a twelve-hour ceremony and reception, for an advertised 200 guests. Catering and alcohol use the venue arrangement, with music stopping at 22:00. |

Shelburne wedding choices
Wedding venues in Burlington and the Champlain Valley. The densest supply in the state and the easiest for guests to reach, anchored on Burlington and the Lake Champlain shore south to Vergennes. The Champlain Valley is the one part of Vermont where a guest can fly in, stay in a walkable downtown and reach the venue without a car for at least part of the weekend.
The area also holds the largest share of the state's hotel rooms, which matters more than venue capacity once your guest list passes about 120. Guests fly into Burlington International Airport, where chain hotels in South Burlington, such as a Holiday Inn Express and a Delta Hotels by Marriott, suit guests who want a short transfer.

A regional shortlist does not establish the tax on a particular wedding invoice. Confirm the venue address, taxable meal and alcohol charges, lodging charges and applicable municipal rates for the event date. A town’s absence from a historic list is not a current exemption. Ask for service charges and tax to be itemised separately.
Shelburne Farms
Shelburne Farms in Shelburne
Shelburne Vineyard
Shelburne Vineyard in Shelburne. Guest capacity: Up to 152 tented outdoor. Up to 85 in the Tasting Room; ~24–40 in the Loft. Season: Outdoor space late spring–early fall; tent May–late September.
Planning a wedding in Shelburne: what guests and couples run into
Shelburne Farms, on its own website, is not booking weddings. Plan around the vineyard's tent season.
Shelburne's wedding supply is a farm, a vineyard and a museum. Shelburne Museum offers a range of Vermont-themed venues, free and ample parking and proximity to Burlington's airport and lodging, with private access to its carousel after 5 p.m., and WeddingWire lists a Shelburne hotel among the town's venues.
Location is the advantage. Burlington's lodging and airport are close. Settings are within a few miles of each other. A guest list can be split between a farm ceremony and a museum dinner without long transfers.
Shelburne's two venues suit different weddings. Shelburne Farms is the working farm and educational estate on the lake, with historic farm buildings and grounds. Shelburne Vineyard is a winery with vineyard views and a tasting room for small weddings and dinners, so the town covers both a farm-scale ceremony and a small vineyard celebration a few minutes apart.
What Shelburne costs on top of the venue
Shelburne adds the extra local option tax to catering and alcohol, and the town decides that, not any venue, so it applies whichever venue you choose. The state's own rates are on the minimums and taxes page.
